What we are doing

We believe that a co-ordinated approach to climate education will help everyone learn and be ready for a climate-changing Aotearoa New Zealand.

We will help to do this by:

  • having a collective vision that leads to coherent policy design

  • having immediately actionable plans at a government, community and individual level

  • empowering everyone to participate

  • sharing and learning from what is already being done to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

We are sending out regular newsletters to our supporters

These summarise some current action initiatives, blogs, longer reads, events and training, to help with inspiration, participation and action. There is a lot happening around climate education and it is always reassuring to know that we are not alone in this mahi.

Why we are doing this

All New Zealanders need access to education that builds understanding and awareness of climate change causes and impacts, and empowers and inspires individual and collective action,  behaviour change, and system changes. Effective climate education supports us to challenge and evolve the way we do things across all aspects of our lives.

There is a lot of research, knowledge and experience about climate change education that is held by those working in the formal education sector.  Our coalition is committed to ensuring that this knowledge is shared with government, business and community groups and the individuals that they work and connect with.
